Scarlett Johansson (born November 22 1984 New York City New York, U.S.) American actress and singer whose acting variety earned her acclaim across many styles from period dramas to thriller and action adventure. Johansson, born to an architect as well as producer, was born within New York City. Her twin brother Hunter as well as her mother were among the youngest of siblings. She developed an interest in acting from a very young age and was auditioning for commercials before the age of seven. She enrolled in the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute shortly after, and later attended the Professional Children's School, Manhattan for further training. Her debut came as an actress on film in North (1994) aged nine. At eight, she appeared with Ethan Hawke on Off-Broadway in Sophistry. Johansson starred next as a character in Just Cause (1995), prior to her breakthrough with Manny & Lo - a tale about two sisters who are orphans who escape. Then, she was awarded critical praise for portraying the role of a teenager who experienced an accident which left her damaged on screen in The Horse Whisperer (1998). She gained more attention with the film Ghost World (2002) as the cynical outcast Rebecca. Smith landed the first of many acting roles when she was just six. On a TV commercial in which she played Dannon Yogurt. Like many young actresses she began her professional career in the theatre. While working on different projects around the USA she made her theatrical debut in Wildflower. She studied in Stonestreet Studios, the Stonestreet Studios Conservatory of the New York University Tisch School of the Arts.
